Chainsaw Permit to Purchase — DENR Requirements Guide

Please read first. Chainsaws are regulated items in the Philippines under Republic Act No. 9175 (Chainsaw Act of 2002) and its implementing rules, DENR Administrative Order No. 2003-24. DENR requirements, fees, forms, validity periods, and processing times may be updated at any time. You must verify the current requirements directly with your DENR Regional or CENRO/PENRO office before purchasing. Only DENR can confirm what applies to your specific application.
1. Important Legal Notice
- Only persons and entities duly authorized by DENR may purchase, sell, distribute, import, manufacture, or transfer ownership of chainsaws.
- Possession or use of an unregistered chainsaw is a criminal offense under R.A. 9175, carrying imprisonment and fines, and the unit may be confiscated.
- DENR has publicly warned that chainsaws bought from unauthorized sources, including online platforms, are considered illegal and may be confiscated.
- Chainsaw ownership under R.A. 9175 is a regulated privilege, not an open right. Eligibility is limited to specific categories of applicants. Confirm your eligibility with DENR before proceeding.
KHM Megatools Corp. cannot release or process a chainsaw purchase without a valid DENR Permit to Purchase. Chainsaw units are not sold through ordinary online checkout — the transaction is completed only after your permit documents are verified.
2. Step 1 — Secure Your DENR Permit to Purchase
Prepare the following for your DENR application:

3. Step 2 — Complete Your Purchase
Once DENR issues your Permit to Purchase, send us a copy so we can process and release the unit. We will issue the Official Receipt you will need for registration.
4. Step 3 — Register the Chainsaw
After purchase, the chainsaw must be registered with DENR. The Certificate of Registration also serves as your permit to own, possess, and use the registered chainsaw.
Typical requirements for registration:
- Official Receipt
- Stencil of the chainsaw serial number
- Duly accomplished application form
- Detailed chainsaw specifications (brand, model, engine capacity, etc.)
- Actual inspection of the unit by DENR personnel may be required
Validity of the Certificate of Registration:
- Two (2) years, renewable for the same period, for chainsaws used for legitimate purposes
- Five (5) years, renewable for the same period, for non-commercial orchard and fruit tree farmers and similar applicants whose work is unrelated to wood or timber production, processing, and trade
Fees (verify current amounts with DENR): A permit fee and a registration fee of PHP 500.00 each per chainsaw have been the published rates, with the same amount payable on renewal.
Transfer of ownership requires separate DENR authorization. You cannot simply sell or give away a registered chainsaw.

Q: Do I need a permit to buy any chainsaw? A: Yes. Chainsaws are regulated by DENR under R.A. 9175. A Permit to Purchase is required before we can process your order.
