Welcome back
Tin Hello everybody, welcome back to Philippine Tool Talks! Today we're doing something a little different — no tools.
Engr. Sophia No tools! Today, it's about people.
Tin Exactly — and we can still learn so much about tools from them. We're running through the top tool, construction, architecture, and DIY influencers in the Philippines.
Engr. Sophia Because these days, before anyone buys hardware, they research — and not just on Google. They look for the people who actually use the products.
Tin Right. So when we say "tools," we look for the creators and pros who put them to work on real projects. Let's get into it.
Slater Young
Tin First up — Slater Young. We all know him.
Engr. Sophia Tons of YouTube videos, lots of collabs with other creators, and his content is really high-end.
Tin He leans into premium brands, measuring and layout work, very engineering-focused. If you like serious, polished builds, that's him.
Oliver Austria
Engr. Sophia Next — "mah dudes" — Architect Oliver Austria.
Tin One of the breakout creators during the pandemic. His editing is sharp, and so funny.
Engr. Sophia He had that series reacting to construction workers doing clever, unconventional things on site — and of course "Pinoy Architect Reacts," where he reviews celebrity homes. He even reviewed Alex Gonzaga's.
Tin What I love is his story — it took him seven years to finish architecture, and he still placed near the top of the board exam. Really inspiring.
Architect Dax
Engr. Sophia Staying with architects — Architect Dax is another great follow. Very personality-driven.
Tin He sits right in the middle of design, education, and entertainment, which makes his content really easy to watch.
Palacio Architects (Ar. JM)
Tin Next, Architect JM of Palacio Architects.
Engr. Sophia What sets him apart is that he makes architecture feel practical, not intimidating. He compares products, materials, and price points — useful for architects, engineers, and homeowners alike.
Tin And check his TikTok — he posts funny memes to break the ice. That CHB joke is a classic.
Gila Arellano — Madhouse Design & Construction Studio
Engr. Sophia Now the boss lady of the construction scene — Gila Arellano of Madhouse Design and Construction Studio. She's the CEO; her husband Iñigo is COO.
Tin Her branding has always been on point — cinematic, inspirational content, and renovation videos that completely transform a space.
Engr. Sophia She's the kind of leader you look up to. And they recently expanded their HQ — designed with collaboration spaces for the whole team, not just for herself.
Ina Medalla — GLI Construction Services
Tin Next, Ina Medalla of GLI Construction Services.
Engr. Sophia Her content is product reviews and demos, but also real construction progress — step-by-step, building a house from the ground up.
Tin It's a great example of how that kind of honest content builds authority and trust. And she's genuinely funny — she makes the job site fun.
Beyond the Build (Podcast)
Engr. Sophia Together, Gila and Ena have a podcast — Beyond the Build.
Tin They invite guests from across the construction industry to tell the real stories — the hard, the harsh, and the rewarding. Definitely check it out; the link's in the description.
D' Allan Builders
Tin Next, D' Allan Builders.
Engr. Sophia Informative, real-life build content with practical tips — well-shot videos covering everything from measuring to landscaping.
Tin You'll learn a lot. He's on Facebook and YouTube.
Mr. Contractor (Clark Ferrer)
Engr. Sophia Mr. Contractor — that's Engr. Clark Ferrer, a licensed mechanical engineer and CEO of Delta DNC.
Tin His whole thing is mentoring aspiring contractors. He answers people's questions in Messenger and screenshots the replies so everyone learns.
Engr. Sophia Such a generous mentor. Very active.
Arch. Gelo Mañosa
Tin Next, Architect Gelo Mañosa.
Engr. Sophia His content never feels one-sided — he builds conversations with his audience and actually replies to comments.
Tin His series "Would It Work in the Philippines?" tests Western ideas against our climate — so useful. And he's often invited as a guest speaker on preserving Filipino architecture.
Architect JM de Jesus
Engr. Sophia Architect JM de Jesus runs a design-build practice. He has an architecture degree from UST and an MBA from Ateneo.
Tin So his content blends design and business — leadership, entrepreneurship, company building, client management, and the realities of running a design-build firm.
Landoo G
Tin Next, Landoo G.
Engr. Sophia More on the fun side — relaxed "Bali" design vibes, family content, and relatable contractor moments. Entertaining, and inspiring too.
Jim Caumeron Design
Engr. Sophia Jim Caumeron Design — very minimalist, very clean.
Tin His recent posts even lean into Japanese influences. Beautiful, modern work. Worth a follow.
Conrad Roofing Services (Ser Jos)
Tin Next, Conrad Roofing Services — Ser Jos.
Engr. Sophia He focuses entirely on roofing. Nobody's really owned that lane before.
Tin Exactly — great educational content for a topic most general pages skip right over.
Film That Build
Engr. Sophia Film That Build — project execution, with a focus on house cabinetry and real client work.
Tin Very client-based content. You can picture the finished output in your own home.
DIY Dad (VRV Woodworks)
Tin DIY Dad — sponsored by Dartek, by the way.
Engr. Sophia His content is woodworking and project execution — he uses a lot of tools. He's on YouTube as DIY Dad.
Tin And just a note — a lot of this is based on the blog over at khmtools.com.ph. The link's in the description if you want to read along.
DIY Tatay Dan (DTD Design Studio)
Engr. Sophia DIY Tatay Dan, from DTD Design Studio — modular and interior fit-out.
Tin His before-and-afters are amazing. From this to that — the space looks completely different.
Vinchero Karpintero
Tin Next, Vinchero Karpintero.
Engr. Sophia He does tool comparisons — big brand against big brand — so you can see the difference and pick what fits you.
Tin He calls himself a weekend DIYer, and you'll learn a lot from his builds. Facebook and YouTube.
DON DIY Project (Don Casals Juan)
Engr. Sophia DON DIY Project — Don Casals Juan.
Tin On-the-spot, no-filter tool reviews — honest "legit checks." If someone claims a tool can do something, say with angle grinders, he'll test it live and show proper handling.
Engr. Sophia You learn first-hand, which is great.
Roi Diola
Tin Next, Roi Diola.
Engr. Sophia He's a Bosch fan — shares tips and tricks, how to do this and that, using tools and materials you can buy right here. Great for beginners or anyone wanting a refresher.
Kraig Briones (TheGenresDesign)
Engr. Sophia Kraig Briones — TheGenresDesign. More DIY content, and he's a contractor too.
Tin He's got fabrication content plus clean, modern interior design. Practical "how to do this and that" guidance.
Lito Manansala (AVMake)
Tin Next, Lito Manansala of AVMake — one of the OGs.
Engr. Sophia He was one of the first to test tools on camera and do a construction podcast. He even has content on temperature sensors and compressor oil.
Tin A real OG, and he collaborates a lot across the community.
rodBAC ON
Engr. Sophia rodBAC ON — his testing content is wild.
Tin He'll do things like run an aircon off a small drill battery! But he really knows the products — reliable, detailed tool reviews on YouTube.
Saira Margarita
Tin Next, Saira Margarita — an architect.
Engr. Sophia Her content is life as a female architect and a mom — lifestyle videos with real advice, balancing everything. Relatable and encouraging.
Architect Claud
Tin Another architect worth following is Architect Claud — approachable residential design with educational, practical tips.
NOJI BOY
Engr. Sophia NOJI BOY — the comedian of the bunch.
Tin He turns a fast-paced, high-pressure industry into something you'll actually laugh at. A perfect icebreaker.
RK Thicc
Engr. Sophia RK Thicc — very personality-driven, lots of memes, always on-trend.
Tin Great for reach and that socially native, entertaining energy.
Engr. Yuri Pascual
Tin Next, Engr. Yuri Pascual — structural engineering.
Engr. Sophia He walks you through real building projects and makes you feel like you're right there on site. Content like "Budget 2026 Construction," high-standard luxury finishes, even build-now-pay-later as a licensed contractor.
Tin Purposeful and educational. He's on YouTube too.
Ingeniero TV (Engineer Donald)
Engr. Sophia Ingeniero TV — you probably know him. Engineer Donald.
Tin His content compares things like prefabricated vs. traditional houses, the pros and cons — really useful for people trying to decide. He's got a great one on common construction mistakes, and where to splurge during a renovation.
Engr. Sophia He's even been featured on TV Patrol.
Architect Ed
Tin Architect Ed — educational content and building tips.
Engr. Sophia Super easy to understand, especially for people just starting out — like which materials really matter. Important content. He's been shouted out on TV Patrol too, and he's very active online.
Mayora Frances — Home Buddies
Engr. Sophia And last but not least — Mayora Frances of Home Buddies.
Tin Everyone knows Home Buddies. Minimalist design, lots of product reviews, and home improvement.
Engr. Sophia She tests the products herself and tells you honestly whether they're worth it. A real good influence.
Closing
Tin So that's our rundown. This community is still smaller than other niches — but it's growing fast.
Engr. Sophia If you're an aspiring creator in this space, keep going. You'll reach more people than you think.
Tin And if you'd like to be added to our blog, collaborate, or share your story on Philippine Tool Talks — reach out. We're very much open.
