Fiberglass ladders are non-conductive, which makes them the standard choice for electricians and anyone working near live wires. They also resist rust and weather, so they suit construction, maintenance, telecom and industrial work.

How to choose a fiberglass ladder

  • Type: A-type step ladders stand on their own for indoor work. Extension ladders lean on a wall to reach roofs and high points. Multipurpose ladders, like the Louisville FXC1000, change between A-type and straight.
  • Load rating: check the duty rating, such as 225 lbs, 300 lbs or 375 lbs, and include your body weight plus tools and materials.
  • Height: pick a ladder that lets you work without standing on the top steps. For extension ladders, allow extra length above the landing point.
  • Platform: platform ladders such as the Louisville FP1500 and 3041-03 give a stable place to stand for long tasks.

Fiberglass or aluminum?

Aluminum ladders are lighter and usually cost less, but they conduct electricity. Choose fiberglass for any electrical work. For non-electrical jobs, see aluminum ladders, or browse by type in A-type ladders and extension ladders. For work at height, add a safety harness.

All products from KHM Megatools are genuine and covered by the manufacturer's warranty where applicable.
