Choosing the right one

• Plug-in or bolt-on: match the panel box to the breaker type you will install. Plug-in breakers go in TQL boxes, bolt-on breakers in TQC, TQD and THJ boxes.
• Indoor or outdoor: Nema 1 enclosures are for indoor use. For locations exposed to rain, choose a Nema 3R enclosure or pull box.
• Transfer switch rating: pick an MTS with an ampere rating at least equal to the circuit it will carry, and have a licensed electrician do the installation.
